Since i’ve been advised not to go with the Atkins diet, can someone please give me details of the South Beach diet? I’ve never heard of it before! Can you tell me what i can eat and how quickly I can see the effects?

What foods should I eat after a workout?

I’m very overweight (female, started at 270 lbs and have lost 18 pounds so far on my diet/workout plan, so now I’m about 250). I’m curious about the types of food I should eat after my workout. I can’t afford a trainer and I’m quite ignorant about dieting and working out. I’ve been overweight for so much of my life that I feel like a child who doesn’t know anything. I’ve basically just been doing everything on my own, looking up stuff online. So here’s the breakdown:

What I’m eating now:
- I have various fruit and a healthy shake in the morning at work around 8am.
- When I get home around 2pm, I make myself another shake and I either have fruit or a low-fat/calorie soup and salad.
- I sometimes have a handful of nuts around 4pm, but not usually. Usually I just make dinner if I’m hungry.
- Dinner is usually a lowfat/calorie soup, fish with a salad, or something heartier but still not too bad with fat/calories. I’m trying to keep to a 1000 calories/day. Even if the fat content is a bit higher, I’m trying to keep the calories down. Before I started dieting, I can’t even tell you how many calories I was eating but I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t double or triple this.
- I work out 4 days a week, consisting of walking very fast and slow jogging. I work out in a very hilly cemetery because it’s private and quiet, and I feel less self-conscious. I do this for 2-3 hours each time, and it’s for about 6-7 miles each day.

hey guys people tell me i should create a deficiency of 500 calories a day and then other people tell me i dont have to worry about calories and to just eat clean grilled meat and pleanty of greens while avoiding carbs except in the mourning.
what do you think is the best way to do it? maybe a combination of both?
